Toggle web server in WAF rule via API

Hello,

I am trying to set up kind of a "blue-green" deployment environment for our website. We already have a working web server and a firewall (WAF) rule pointing to this web server. I've added a second "web server" and I now see it in the list under the "protected servers" section in my firewall rule.

Does anyone know how I can toggle to the other web server (WEB01) using API? I am thinking that after I after I publish the latest version of our website to this 2nd identical Windows server running IIS, I can then use the API to toggle to the other server once we test the site and make sure all is good.

I found this article but I'm not too familiar with APIs in general, although others in my team are... so if I find something close enough to present to the team perhaps we can take it from there: docs.sophos.com/.../index.html. The firewall is registered in Sophos Central. I also found this documentation -- not sure which one I should go off: https://developer.sophos.com/.

Thanks!

  • First you need to know, how to read/write via api.

Then i would read/export the whole rule via API. Here you can see the "blue" server. It is simple to change this item to green within output ... or you change via GUI to green and export the rule again.

Then post the whole data for the matching configuration via API.
