XG210 (SFOS 18.5.3 MR-3-Build408) - SMTPD service dead

After the 18.5.3 MR-3 update control center shows that SMTPD is dead. Via advanced console 5 - 3 I restarted the smtpd service

  • service smtpd:restart -d -s nosync.
  • service antispam:restart -d -s nosync.

This did not solve it.

I tried stopping the Anti-spam service also tru the admin website but it throws an error "couldn't apply settings".

I don't think it is really a problem as we are no longer using the anti-spam features of the XG as we moved to Central Email Gateway. The XG is set to act as a transparant proxy.

Advise to resolve this is appreciated.

Regards,

Fred

  • Hi, have you updated the certificate authority recently? You are using it in SMTP TLS configuration ? I had a same problem. Change CA and try to start smtpd service.

  • Under Email -> General Settings -> SMTP TLS Configuration had Default under TLS Certificate. I changed it to reflect the smtp.hostname certificate. Restarted the smtpd and antispam service with a 200 OK.

Control center still shows service SMTPD DEAD.,

I had an issue in the past not being able to delete an old domain server due to the fact that the old MTA mode settings are not deleted from the database even though we moved back to transparant proxy mode. I don't recall any MTA mode specfic settings related to a certificate. I have to check.

The services were all green before the update. After the update it shows dead.

It does not seem to effect operation.
