Interface naming issue

The only thing that is "reserved" is the string "port".

You should be able to rename the interfaces to "MyInterface1" While "MyPort1" is not allowed. But this does not solve the ordering issue.

Or I'd start rebuilding both boxes from iso or at least the Aux node and re-join it to the cluster.

These units were purchased as appliances so there isn't much I can do in the way of rebuilding.  I'll change the familiar names on both boxes to see if that solves it.  Thanks.

be sure you select hardware image as source.

from your description it sounds like someone installed a software iso on your XG which  is intended for installing XG on normal computer hardware like PC.

The rebuild didn't change things so I'll try the unique names on both units.  I'll keep you posted.

Seems to me that you are not running identical firmware on both nodes.

OK, maybe, did you actually rebuild them both? With the same ISO?

Doug, could you have a look to the unit label with serial number and hardware revision / number ?

At this point it is not an option as the Primary Unit is in production.

There are two hardware revision in the field:

Maybe you got just the two different revisions?

You can check the serial number from control center.

Maybe the production unit was upgraded from an older release and therfore has these names.

And the new 18.5 firmware now uses a differnet scheme on this piece of hardware?

Sophos Support should be able to answer these questions: did the naming scheme and/or sequence change on some hardware models  when compared to older firmware levels (like 18.x oder 17.5) ?

Since the ports in question are on an add-in card, my next step is to compare the cards in both units.  I'll have to check that after hours.

that's really a strange issue. I would say, your primary node acts fine. There is something on the aux that's weird, they should not be named with eth.

Let us know what you find on the expansion module hardware.
