LAN To WAN VPN Problem

Hello guys,

We are using different versions of sophos. 17.5 to 18.... latest

Some of our clients withing LAN segment needs to connect to different VPN networks outside the company through the internet.

The VPN connections are L2TP and PPTP

The problem is that, their connections stop working after 5-10 minutes and they have to reconnect it.

Our LANtoWAN rule has no complexity, but we disabled all features and controls on it and the problem is still there.

Do you have any solution? If they use another path (something else than Sophos as the internet edge), VPN connections run without any problem. So, the problem is definitely caused by sophos.

  • Hello Bharat,

    Thanks for replying.

Our users (Internal users) want to connect to the outside vpn server (non-sohphos servers).

So, it is a LAN to WAN rule with enabled NAT on it.

Imagine computer A within LAN is going to connect to a RRAS server in England.

The point: Sophos is placed at the edge of network and is responsible for internet NATting (like a DSL modem we all have in the house)
