NAT and SD WAN

Question

Hey All, 
 
 I was kinda wondering, I Sophos V17 you could select the NAT on the FW rule itself and that that's the route it would take 
 
 But now in V18 its separated, If you have one link can you add NAT rules on its own with no SD WAN routing would this work ? 
 Or do you need the SD WAN also if there's one link. 
 
 If you have 2 links , can you do the routing with just the NAT obviously setting the outbound interface in the NAT Rule - with no SD WAN 
 Would that work ? 
 
 Sorry Ive seem to be having some issues with the NATs so maybe wanted some clarity on how and when exactly NAT for 2 links should be used with SD WAN. 
 
 I tried only using NAT rules and that just didn't work at all.

Hi Ryan, 
 There is an architectural difference between v17 and v18. 
 With v18 onwards, the NAT module is separated. Also, if you create firewall rule, there is an option to add NAT rule within it which is required. If there is no NAT rule created, then the traffic will not go to internet. 
 You may create one single NAT rule for all the traffic. But it is recommended to create NAT rule while creating firewall rule so that all the firewall rules will be having their own dedicated NAT rules.
