Why is there a user portal at port 443 ?

Hi everyone,

I know this is a pretty basic question but I am an IT amateur.

Per Sophos XG v18 User Guide, page 137 : 'The web admin console of XG Firewall and the user portal are accessible over HTTPS through the ports 4444 and 443 respectively.' Has there already been a web admin console at 4444, why is there still a user portal at 443 ? What is the difference and what is this user portal for ?

Thank you very much.

  • Hi : You may be able to change or define a custom port based on your requirement for Webadmin and User portal both on XG.

Please find the below snapshot for reference:

The user portal is the portal where users who are added on XG may log in over that portal to download Authentication client, VPN client, and VPN config file and for many other settings like to change the user password, to release quarantine email, etc.
