Giving appliance access to a group imported from AD

In the last couple days I've been trying to give admin access to some users to manage Sophos firewalls via WAN accross multiple sites. However, I have to manually set the user type as "Administrator".

Manually setting 10 users or more accross  more than 30 sites is a lot of work. Is there a way to give admin access in the firewall while importing the group from AD or configure the entire group rather than each user individually?

  • Hi Claiton Silva

For site/s, users managed by AD server we can apply admin profile to admin created user group.

"Sophos Partner: Infrassist Technologies Pvt Ltd".

  • Sorry Bharat J, I don't follow.

Where do I set the admin profile in the Activity Directory or Sophos XG?

I know that it's possible to set this option in the user settings manually but not in the group.

The idea is that everytime a new user login on sophos and it is a member of a specific group imported from the AD, the user gets the user type "Administrator" instead of "user".

  • That is currently the only implementation to do this. Sophos is going to invest into the Role based Access via Central. So you can do this kind of access level via Central management.
