API to log into user portal

Does anyone know of an API XML that will log a new user into the user portal?

In short I'm trying to automate setting up new AD users. Normally we just log the AD user into the user portal, and everything is done (the user is imported from AD with the correct groups etc)

    That does looks like it will work but i'm getting this error when using the powershell option:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <Response APIVersion="1800.2" IPS_CAT_VER="1">
    <Login>
    <status>Authentication Successful</status>
    </Login>
    <User transactionid="1">
    <Status code="501">Configuration parameters validation failed.</Status>
    <InvalidParams>
    <Params>/User/SurfingQuotaPolicy</Params>
    <Params>/User/AccessTimePolicy</Params>
    </InvalidParams>
    </User>
    </Response>
