View interface bandwidth (upload/download) in real time

hello

we have Sophos XG with sfos 18.5. interface 5 is wan ( we have internet speed 100  Mbps download /100 Mbps upload)

how to monitor the actual current bandwidth used down/upload on this interface

for  example : at this moment (  bandwidth is    65 Mbps download  / 50 Mbps upload  )

and is there a way to get the bandwidth during a period (average down speed , upload speed) on certain interface ?

thanks

  • Hello,

you go to  "Control Center", under "System" you click on the "Performance"-Icon, then choose "Network" as your category.

Then you get something like this:

If you want to drill down further, go to "System graphs" (left side), which is also to be found under the "Diagnostics" menu.

  • hello

for interface info in System graphs , does Received KBits/s in orang means (Download in Kbps) and  Transmitted KBits/s in blue means (upload in Kbps) ?

and in reports->executive report -> interface : what does ReceivedKBits and TransmittedKBits mean ?

    thanks

  • Hello,

it's the direction of the packet flow from the POV of the firewall-system: so it depends on the interface you are looking at.

If you are looking at the "WAN"-interface which is normally connected to your ISP-router, then Received Kbit/s  means "Download" and Transmitted Kbit/s means Upload

  • Exactly. If you look at the full ports display in Diagnostics > System Graphs -- which I prefer as a display -- it can be a bit confusing if you don't keep that viewpoint principle in mind. It's helpful at first to only select the WAN Zone graph and interpret "In" as "Into the firewall via the WAN -- that is 'download'", and similarly for "Out".
