Sophos XG210 blocking third-party published applications.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm fairly new to the Sophos firewall world and some things aren't as clear as other vendors.

I have a third-party that is publishing a Sage ERP software package for my client. We can authenticate the published applications, get the shortcuts, etc. but when you try to launch the application, it errors out and won't connect. I can authenticate to the RDWeb portal as well. I can even do a direct RDP session to the hosted desktop using the path, but the shortcuts won't launch.

If a user takes their laptop offsite, then the applications launch with no issue.

I have a firewall rule set to block no outbound traffic, just inbound traffic that doesn't originate from inside the firewall. I also am not running any web filtering or application filtering on the firewall itself.

Any ideas?

  • In addition to rfcat_vk's excellent suggestions, you should also look at the TLS decryption logs if you are doing that. You can set up the clients so they accept the appliance's certificate but not all websites are happy with this. So you need to add TLS exceptions for those websites.

If you're not doing TLS decryption/inspection, this isn't an issue.
