SSL Certificate error on all Google Ad links

We have 1 computer at a client that gets the following message:  Your connection is not private.  It points to www.googleadservices.com

NET:ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID

When I look at the certificate, it says Issued to:  www.googleadservices.com  Issued by:  Sophos SSL CA_ZGHssQbvIy4tMmR Valid:  11/28/2021 to 2/20/2022

I looked through all the certificates and did not find anything with Sophos.

It is possible this Laptop used to have Sophos Endpoint Intercept X.  We are no longer using that.

The Firewall is a Sophos XG firewall, and no other users have this issue.

What can I do to solve this?  It's frustrating for the user.

  • Hello to Canada,

you obviously use the XG-Firewall as a webproxy, so the Sophos is working between the pc and the internet-server and inserts its certificate into the traffic.

The pc systems need to know about that CA this certificate of the appliance is coming from. Therefore you need either to downlaod an deploy that CA on each system manually OR, if they are domain-joined, use a GPO to deploy that certificate to the clients.
