IPSec Site to Site Questions

Hello everyone,

So I have been playing around with site to site IPSec connections on 2 XG firewalls and had a couple of questions. Firstly, DNS does not resolve on a  basic setup and just wondering how that is handled? I can use the IP address and connect to other devices on the other end, just DNS names do not resolve. As well on the basic setup, if I choose not to use any Remote ID or Local ID, each firewall shows the connected site to site connection under VPN in Reports, however if I decide to use email address as the local ID and Remote ID , I no longer get any VPN report showing the site to site connections, is this a bug?
