SFOS 18.5.2 MR2-Build380 pppoe problems

hello

our current sfos is SFOS 18.5.1 MR-1-Build326, and we have 3 WAN [PPPoE (DSL)] , everything works perfect and all WANs connected successfully.

But I downloaded SFOS 18.5.2 MR2-Build380 update (from id.sophos.com) and upgrade manually, when new firmware applied , all WAN interfaces (PPPoE) keeps connecting without successful connected with logs in log viewer:

Port11 : PADI Packet sent from interface
Port11 : Discovery Process Completed
Port11: Authentication Fail. Please check Username & Password

and I never change username and passwords.

so I had to roll back to  SFOS 18.5.1 MR-1-Build326, and everything works again.

any ideas?

thanks

  • Yup ...... just found out today .... If you have 2 or more WAN port using PPPoE dialing it will only connect one WAN, the rest will be disconnect said please check your username & password. I need to to roll back to previous firmware for all the units that have 2 or more WAN ports using PPPoE. If the second port is DHCP then it will be okay, but if it is PPPoE it will fails. BIG BUG ....

  • Hi Cheong KeeChng,

Have you opened any case related to this?

Would it be possible for you to open a case and provide the following logs

    syslog.log, applog.log, netword.log

Not sure if you’re planning to upgrade any other of your customers that has more than 2 PPPoE links, but if you do please provide the logs mentioned above so this can be investigated with Sophos Team.

  • Mr. Sophos - you are kidding - open a case ? you have a customer that is Hard Down no internet connections, by the time you open a case and have support deal with the issue,, by then the customer would have had my genitals removed. Must be nice not being face to face with clients. Just a suggestion, Reload 18.5.1, protect your body parts, and wait for next release.

  • If you have a specific issue and nobody reports this, nobody will have the opportunity to resolve it. Only by logging a case, Sophos is able to resolve this issue.
