XG Username different from AD UPN

Hi there,

I am currently testing an XG3300 model to replace our Untangle UTM and am running into issues with the AD Authentication and the Username that it records. We have an addtional UPN in our AD that we use as the logon name for students/staff, which is not the same as the FQDN of AD.

i.e. DC FQDN is oursite.community.school, whereas the UPN is ourschool.com.au so a student will log in with joebloggs@ourschool.com.au

The problem is that Sophos is recording all the users as  joebloggs@oursite.community.school instead of joebloggs@ourschool.com.au and then I keep getting access denied errors in the logs because of this.

Is there a way to have it record the user with their UPN (i.e. @ourschool.com.au) instead of the FQDN of the DC?

I am a complete newbie when it comes to SOPHOS UTM so any help would be appreciated.

I have tried setting the authentication server up using LDAP hoping this would do it, but not sure how to get the users in with STAS

Thanks,

Darren

  • Thanks Toni,

I did this which now has recorded the correct UPN, but now it doesn't populate the users in the Users section. I have to manually sign in with my username and password on the Capture Portal page.

I am using STAS, would this cause issues if I am using a different UPN to the Domain name?

    Regards,

    Darren
