Sophos : No upgrades available

hello

our current firmware is SFOS 18.5.1 MR-1-Build326, from inside Sophos when we click "Check for new firmware" it always show No upgrades available.

but from inside our Sophos account (id,sophos.com) we can download new firmware SFOS 18.5.2 MR2-Build380

why ??

thanks

  • That's happened to me fairly often. They apparently roll releases out, perhaps to larger installations first or geographic regions or perhaps even XGS models. I've had to download by hand and apply 2 out of the last 3 firmware updates. (Not counting the EAP1, which I assume won't show up -- though maybe EAP2 might?)

  • hello

so it is safe to download and apply it, or I should wait to appear from inside Sophos.

    thanks

  • Sophos does have public betas that it calls its Early Access Program (EAP) and those you need to install manually. They won't show up in Sophos. But something like MR2 is official and the reason it's not showing up in your Sophos has nothing to do with not being safe for general use.

Sophos' official releases are GA and MR releases. They should eventually show up inside Sophos, but you can also get them from sophos.com. You could also wait until it does appear -- I think it could take a week or so, but it eventually should show up. If it doesn't show up weeks after release, there might be some kind of bug going on.

You'll also notice the difference in announcement. For an official release, they'll say something like "Sophos Firewall v18.5 MR2 (Build 380) is now available", while for a beta that'll say something like "The early access program for Sophos Firewall OS v19 is kicking off today".
