IPsec VPN client DNS server 8.8.8.8 - SLOW INTERNET

Hello,

We just set up IPsec client VPN.

The DHCP pool is 10.81.234.5-10.81.234.55.

"Use as default gateway" is unchecked.

Originally, we had 8.8.8.8 in the DNS Server 1 field. Secondary DNS field left blank.

When we'd connect to the VPN, internet traffic came to a crawl. Pages took forever to load... almost like a DNS timeout until the request was forwarded and then the page would suddenly load 15-20 seconds later. Then we switched the DNS from 8.8.8.8 to the IP of the Sophos 10.100.100.1, and that made everything snappy. Why were we getting the latency behavior when using 8.8.8.8?

I configured a new DNS server that I'd like to use, but am not sure if I'll run into the same issues if the DNS server is anything BUT the IP of the Sophos.

Second question
------------------------------------

If I change the DNS server, will a new .scx file need to be distributed to all VPN users? I don't see anything in the .scx file regarding DNS servers (and don't see anywhere in the Sophos Connect Client to change it), so, if anything hopefully the VPN client just needs to disconnect and re-connect for the new DNS server IP to be used.
