Traffic Shaping for VoIP usage

Hi

using Sophos XG 18/18.5 what is the best way to shape (apply QoS rules) for VoIP usage with multiple asymmetric WAN link?

In this specific case there are these two WAN (Down/Up):

  • 200/30 Mbps
  • 100/20 Mbps

In the System Service -> Traffic Shaping Service there is a field for Total WAN bandwidth. I don't know how the XG internally work but if I set 43750KB/s it seems wrong.

How can the firewall know how much bandwidth I've got in download/upload for every single WAN?

  • I've been wondering the same thing for over a year and I've never found a satisfactory answer.

In addition, once you have XG configured for multiple WANs you'll find that a) you can't really easily track which WAN specific traffic is actually going to and b) there is no easy way to see live traffic per WAN interface.

Another challenge is splitting destination traffic to specific WAN interfaces. I was told it's not reliable.
