Looking to go to Sophos XG??

Hi everyone. I have wanted to try out Sophos XG for a while now. The only thing that has stopped me is that I was worried that I wouldn't be able to sustain my Verizon FiOS Gigabit Down/UP connection with the hardware limitations in the Sophos XG home edition. I am currently running pfSense hardware. It has an Intel Atom C2758 2.4Ghz 8-Core CPU, 16 GB RAM, and a 120gb SSD.omegle

I know the Sophos XG Home will ignore some of the cores and RAM but will I be able sustain my Gigabit connection with features like IPS, AV, SSL decrypt, etc. turned on? If so, is 120 gb SSD enough or do I need larger for reporting/logs? I wouldn't be against buying an appliance but from what I have seen they cost a lot of money plus you have to buy a license to get the extra features. The ones I saw also didn't really say they support gigabit with the features above turned on. If my hardware won't get the job done, is there any hardware that will? Does anyone else here use Sophos XG with FiOS? Any issues with it?

  • The main thing that will cause lower throughput is core speed. The general recommendation is to go for the fastest 4 real cores you can get without going to i5 or greater.

though I do not have a fois connection.
