How to modify/customize the firewall emails?

The emails received by the Administrator are currently not possible to edit, this would be a feature request, I would suggest your add your idea to the following website https://ideas.sophos.com/, and I will be passing your comment to our PM team for consideration in future releases.

You could look into Central Management. Its free of use and can give some better alerts and reports for you for all firewalls. Simply integrate the firewall in Central and there you go. 

I only have one firewall - wouldn‘t a „Central Management“ solution be somewhat like taking a 40 ton truck to get a pack of cigarettes?  Anyhow, I plead guilty - I haven‘t looked at Central (although the Firewall keeps nagging me wheNever I log in).  One step at a time.

Would „Central“ allo me to configure the email templates?

Central Management gives you benefits, even for one firewall. You can use the management and the alert management of Central. Just try it and register the firewall.
