XG reboot and change in HA Status

Dear Comminity,

I've a customer with an HA pair of XG135 with SFOS 18.0.5 MR-5-Build586. They are facing random reboot of the appliance that force a change HA status.

During this reboot they 5/10 minutes of disconnectoin.

I've open a sophos case 04435878 in order to investigate and support replay that this problem is caused by the automatic pattern updates feature and it's a known behavior and the only mitigation solutions are stop automatically update or schedule it every 24 hours.

Also they say that the last SFOS 18.5.1 MR1-Build326 don't solve this problem.

Is everyone facing the same problem?

There are any action or bug open by sophos in order to solve this?

Is there any KB that describe this known behavior?

Thank you

  • - random reboot
    - HA failure
    - 5/10 minutes of disconnection

and they say it's because of automatic pattern update, known behaviour and no fix?  That's unbelievable Sophos!

I think they mixed something up with interruptions caused by IPS pattern updates. Never heard of reboots caused by pattern updates.

I hope someone of the admins here can check this Case# and push some qualified answer. I think you have already provided plenty of logs? did you find something interesting in them by your self?

  • At the moment support didn't ask me for any logs and the case thread is more than 10 email where I've ask them to investigate...

  • We've a few HA setups out there, I've not seen or heard of this behaviour but we've no HA setups using 135s so maybe that's it. I would have thought if it was known there'd be a bug ID for it and a planned release for it to be fixed.
