We have an HA Cluster (active/passiv) with two Xg230.
We have 2 employes that are useing the Sophos SSL VPN Client in foreign countries eg. Oman to connect to our company in germany.
In many foreign countries, these users have problems concerning very very low SSL VPN transfering rate.
in the foreign county the connection/provider offers 40Mbit and the connection site in germany has an synchonous connection of 100MBit (Telekom BPA).
These users can connect to our XG230, located in Gemany (Telekom BPA Line) without any issue but when this user make a file transfer (one big file of 20GB) the transfer rate over the IPSEC SSL connection ist only about 500kb/s.
The same user/client get download rates of the same file, when they are in germany of about 10MB/s!
The user is connected over a foreign provider mit a 40Mbit ADSL connection.
When the user is downloading a geforce driver from Nvidia (also HTTPS/port 443) the download rate is about 4MB/s.
Maybe the local provider has a limitation for VPN connections but the sophos client connects through SSL so this is port 443 the provider is "unable to see" that this is an VPN connection and it is hard for me to understand that there is maybe a throttling activated from the provider over this VPN connection.
In out enviroment , we use standart settings for the Sophos SSL VPN client, UPD is used and compression settings are turned off and it is working well for all VPN client that are not connecting from foreign countries.
Is there anything we can do to speed up the data transfer, or to proove, that the foreign provider is limiting the speed?
