v17 to v18 upgrade issue

Tried my first v17.5.16 to v18.5.1 upgrade today.

All the config was wiped bar the admin password.

Couldnt restore the backup from 17.5.16.    What has gone wrong?   Im assuming this is not what is supposed to happen as the sophos website says no manual changes are needed after upgrading to v18.
