Can't enable Sophos to ping ISP gateway automatically and continuos

Hi, I have encountered a problem with 3 Sophos XGs now. When a link from ISP fails and restores Sophos firewall does not pick back up the connection automatically until a reboot is done. When it happens I have tried to connect my PC or other firewalls/routers are working well on that scenario. For the case of Sophos only works when I initiate ping request from the XG's console/terminal pinging the ISP gateway continuously. But if the firewall goes off means I have to initiate again the ping requests to ISP gateway to avoid the frequent rebooting. How do I enable these pings automatically and continuously even when the firewall goes off  then back on

  • I'm suspecting that ARP connectivity gets broke between ISP Router and XG Firewall WAN interface.

Once the gateway shows down or no internet, please verify ARP connectivity.

console> system diagnostics utilities arp show

console> system diagnostics utilities arp ping interface Port2 192.168.8.104

Here, Port2 is WAN interface and 192.168.8.104 is the Gateway IP of ISP Modem.

If ARP Ping solves the raised query, please check with Sophos Support to apply ARP Ping Script to fix the issue with workaround.

  • thanks for the assistance, i will try and see
