High availability firmware upgrade (small question just to be safe)

I've inherited a HA-setup with two XG's (Active / Passive).

I now want to upgrade them to the latest firmware.

From what I've been able to gather I should simply logon to the web-gui on the Primary one and do a standard upgrade as if it was a standalone device and "the setup" will take care of the rest.

Correct or not? Slight smile

  • take backup of config, download

go into system status and make sure the HA health is good.

then reboot node 1, wait 10 minutes.

node 2 should now be active node, reboot node 2. wait 10 minutes

node 1 again should be active, check system status again for health.

    if good, firmware upgrade.

  • coming from 18.0 MR4 and going to MR5 should go smooth. I've had no problems with this path so far. If you click install, it will update one peer after the other. You will have a small  timeout when the HA cluster is switching from one node to the other (should be less than 15 sec).

Doing a reboot of the nodes as written by  is probably a good idea to flush some temp stuff.

The Link  posted is an other excellent writing of preparation - this is quite new and I wasn't aware of this KB.
