Unable to restore backup - firmware: SFOS 17.5.16 MR-16-Build830

I have another Sophos XG appliance sitting on the shelf for almost a year as a backup.

I work on it today to do an update and restore. I did a factory reset via console.

Then, the system downloaded the latest firmware. However, I am unable to restore the backup, this error keeps on coming up.

The IPS version is exactly the same as the current appliance. The only thing that missing the word 'Success'. I have clicked on update pattern now and nothing happens.

I have tried it again on another factory default and still the same error message.

Please advise if this is a known bug.

    it has Internet access, hence it was able to update (AP firmware, Red firmware, Sophos AV and SSL VPN clients). The rest doesn't need updating - it is the latest version as the production appliance.

    Try to skip the wizard and restore the backup in webadmin.

    Looks like configuration partition got corrupted or might be hardware issue.

    Please do factory reset of the firewall from Console or Reimage the appliance and check again.

    I have done the firewall reset from console and the skip wizard - as seen on my 3rd screenshot.

    I think the firmware is corrupted - because if I load the previous firmware, the system boots fine. I don't see an option to delete firmware.

    I will try to re-image the appliance.
