What does "IPV4 Default GW down" mean

Dear community,

we just switched from UTM to XG.
The firewall is successfully connected to the provider (german Telekom) via pppoe.
WAN connection is working, but the dashboard constantly displays the warning "IPV4 Default GW down"

This false message is annoying;
Any idea, what causes this message and how to get rid of it, is appreciated.

Best regards
RanX

  • Per default the appliance tries to reach the gateway via ping. If not available, it will show gateway down.

You can change the destination server in Network - Wan link manager or routing - gateways and move to a public known ISP.

  • Thank you for the fast reply !
As I'm on a VDSL connection, the Gateway is set automatically.
So it's greyed out and may not be changed in WAN and Routing settings.

To me this is an obvious bug.
The UTM is able to properly detect and display the state of an active (or inactive) VDSL connection.
So it can't be that difficult, to properly implement this on the XG, true ?

Under Routing "Health check - On" is displayed.
Quick and dirty would be, to disable this check.
Is there an option, to switch this off ? If yes - how can I do it ?

    Best Regards

  • He is not asking you to change the gateway, but change the setting in the wan link tab.
