SFOS v18.5 MR1 vs SFOS v18.0 MR6

Will SFOS v18.5 MR1 be the next firmware Version or will there be also SFOS v18.0 MR6?

If there are different versions - what will be the (main) differences in regard to funtionality and Central?

If there will be SFOS v18.0 MR6 can we expect a release soon?

Regards,
BeEf

  • Hello LuCar Tone,

Do I understand it right that using "old" XG hardware requires 18.5 MR-1? When will  the final version without EAP be available?

Last time I installed the first version of the "official" 18 MR-5 the config was reset completely by the SNMP issue. So I don't want to do go even an step earlier and do beta testing.

    Regards,
    BeEf

  • I cannot give any ETA but as far as i can see, there is no issue reported.

The SNMP Issue was reported by some customers using this particular config (Same IP used multiple times). EAP is for testing but the quality of the EAP is high, so we are currently seeing people using productive setups with EAP.

  • Thanks.

Does not help much when you actually effected and the configuration on a remote site is reset - especially in the middle of a corona pandemic.

  • So what about NC-69286 (ping issue) this was be announced to be fixed in 18.0 MR-6 but it seems not to be included in 18.5 MR-1.

  • Those fixes will also be included in a MR2. And the question is, which release will be released first. From a personal view, i would rather have a V17.5 line (for XG105 and XG85) and a V18.5 --> V19.0 etc. line. There is no real reason to stay on V18.0, as V18.5 simply added features.

In the past, people stayed on V17.5 because they dont want to migrate there rules from V17.5 to V18.0. But there is no migration between V18.0 to V18.5.
