SSL VPN - what traffic goes through the VPN?

If a user is remote and using the VPN, what happens with traffic for cloud applications like Office 365 and Salesforce.com?  What happens to general web browsing?  Does it all go through the VPN or does the VPN "know" that some traffic should go through the VPN and some should not?

Thanks

  • Generally speaking, there are two options for VPN. Split tunneling and default gateway(Tunnel all). Split tunneling means, you specify, which networks the client should route through the VPN Tunnel to the appliance. Default gateway (tunnel all) means, the client will use the VPN for everything.

Split tunneling is setup by using the "permitted networks" within the vpn profile in SFOS.

So depending on your setup, in context of default all, O365 etc. will send to SFOS. If you choose split tunnel and only a specific network, the client will send everything to the internet but the specific network through the tunnel.
