18.MR5 And XGS Migration Path

Any word on when 18.MR5 will be supported in a direct migration path to a XGS. (Without downgrading to MR4, which by the way is ridiculous)

You need V18.5 MR1 on the XGS Hardware. V18.5 MR1 will be the first release for all platforms and therefore support the backup/restore.
