Using Sophos XG for Proxy server

Hi Everyone,

We have a security requirement that all internet traffic (inbound and outbound) needs to be routed via a proxy server, the point is to scan all traffic even if the user is outside the company, we were thinking if we could install a virtual Sophos XG and then publish the proxy port externally so it wont matter if the computers are in the office or out. Would this work and does any one have experience in doing it?

  • Hello Jeremy,

Thank you for contacting the Sophos Community.

Would configuring Sophos Connect Client as a Full Tunel (Use as a Default Gateway) work for this?

If configured as Default Gateway all internet traffic would pass through the XG, you can additionally opt to Decrypt and Scan, this traffic.

    Regards,

  • The specific technology we need to include is a proxy server, so we could use the sophos VPN with full tunnel but we would also have a proxy server, would the virtual XG be capable of this? We also wanted to publish the port so that users could access this externally without a vpn
