Traffic Monitoring

Hi everyone.

I am the network administrator for a firm. All staff computers connect to the internet using Wi-Fi, with sophos XG firewall as dhcp server.

Mobile phones are not allowed but some staff always turn on their computers Hotspot feature on the laptops to share internet to mobile.

Please help on any possible way to identify these activities on sophos and restrict.

    Hi , Welcome to Sophos Community

    If users are connecting to the mobile hotspot for the internet, Traffic will go from the hotspot and wouldn't hit the XG network.

    Considering a scenario where users connected to XG (via Ethernet) and Hotspot (via WiFi), and if the traffic hits XG, Restrictions will be applied but XG won't be able to apply restrictions if traffic is going through hotspot while XG network is also connected via Ethernet. 

    Simply, XG can only filter the traffic going through it and doesn't hold control on machine level if traffic is routed elsewhere directly from the machine.
