Sophos Central showing wrong Firewall version

I've rebooted the device several times, removed it from the policy group, and generally done everything I can think of to get it fixed, but we've got one firewall that seems to be reporting the wrong version number to Sophos Central.

It doesn't seem to cause any harm, but I'm worried it's a sign of a deeper problem.

The entry in the firewall management screen:

The device Control Page:

The device firmware page:

Has anyone else ran into this, or does anyone have any suggestions on a fix?

  • Hello there,

    Thank you for contacting the Sophos Community.

    Have you tried to de-register and re-register?

    Additionally, you could check the fwcm-heartbeatd.log for an entry such as this:

    fwcm-heartbeatd.log:, Data(235):{ "version": 2, "trxId": 3.0, "trxStatus": 200, "fwMetaData": { "capability": 7, "fwVersion": "XG125_XN03_18.0.5.586", "di
    spVersion": "XG125_XN03_SFOS 18.0.5 MR-5-Build586", "hostname": "xg1.xxxxxxxxxx.xxx", "ram": 4, "cpuCores": 4 } }

    It should say what version the XG is sending to Central, I think the issue might be on the Central side and not in the XG.

    If de-registering and re-registering don't solve the issue, open a case with support and share the Case ID with me so I can follow up.

  • I had a similar issue a few months ago.  On an XG-106. I updated from 17.5.14 MR14-1 to MR15 and got an email: Appliance Firmware was changed from 'SFOS 17.5.12 MR-12' to 'SFOS 17.5.15 MR-15' by 'admin' from '192.168.xx.xx' using 'GUI'. This was an error in the update email. I did not update from MR-12, I updated from MR 14-1.

    Sophos Development/Labs determined that the error was not in the XG106, rather it was in Central.

  • Sorry, haven't had time to get back on here lately.

    Had to completely remove from Central and re-register to get it fixed.
