XG and ATT passthrough mode

Afternoon All,

I'm having an issue getting our XG working at a clients site and was looking for a little assistance.  TLDR they have ATT Fiber coming from a BGW210-700 Modem and im trying to install an xg115.  They have a block of 5 statics.  When setting up firewalls I use a free static at our office coming from a comcast modem in bridge mode and I always confirm I have internet access via a device connected to the lan port before I leave.  As far as firewall setup goes, theres nothing overcomplicated and only a few simple rules allowing some specific items in and then a lan>wan allowing everything.

Long story short I configure the wan port with one of the statics and ask ATT to put the modem into passthrough mode.  I connect the firewall and try as I may I am unable to get internet access for my devices internally.  I called and worked with sophos for a good 2 hours but we got nowhere.  They believe its an issue on ATTs and we all know the people you get on the phone wont know anything.  Has anyone else had this issue and if so do you know what the settings on the modem need to be beyond putting it in passthrough mode?

Thanks for any help.

  • Hello Andrew,

Thank you for contacting the Sophos Community.

Could you please share your Case ID.

Does the XG itself has internet access or only the computers behind?

Try running this from the Advanced Shell of the XG

    # wget http://google.com

Besides putting into Bridge Mode, confirm that your ISP doesn't have some type of MAC restriction.

    Regards,
