Adding 2nd WAN connection

Hi,

I have added one WAN link which works. I am trying to add a 2nd WAN connection of which I have set the port to the WAN Zone. It gets an IP address using PPPoE, DNS entries are there and the Gateway is also visible. Those IPs are the same as when I checked what my BT router was getting BUT the connection whilst saying connected has a red dot where as the other one has a green dot (and actually works).

I dont think its a problem with the config of the connection as it says connected and has the various correct IP addresses but I cant for the life of me figure out why I cant use that line. Do I need to bridge it or something?

  • Use two different external IPs for each WAN interface. More reliable as it only shows the interface down if both pings fail. Guards against false positives if one of the external IPs isn't responding because that source is down rather than it being a problem with your WAN connection.
