How does my ATT Modem see my internal IPs when I am natting?

I went into my ATT modem (which is set for Passthrough) to hard code an interface speed. I look at the log and I see this!

My Sophos XG firewall is the DHCP server, it is doing NAT and has a public IP on the WAN interrface.
I thought NAT just uses Port Address translations to the WAN port? So how is my ATT Modem seeing my LAN?

Hi John, Thanks for reaching out to Sophos Community.

This is quite unusual what you're seeing. If this modem is set up in a bridged mode and XG has the public IP, It should not see any of the XG's LAN.

I had seen a similar scenario in the past, But are you using any wireless network from the modem or any other part of the network connecting directly into the modem?

While checking in live, Do you see traffic from and to the same source and destination? (in log viewer)

  • Hi John,

Please post a copy of your NAT rule.
