WAF File Size limit

Hi Sophos,

The WAF file size limitation of 1MB has been around for at least 2 years, please check community post "413 Request entity too large".

Can Sophos please make it so we can manage it through the GUI and make the change permanent.

At present we are able to change the value in "sec_request_body_no_files_limit" via the command line but if the WAF configuration is changed the value reverts back to 1MB.

When I spoke to support they said it would get fixed if there were enough cases were raised. Now either the case are not being reported correctly or people have found the fix online and are just making the changes. Either that or the number of On-Prem mail servers had fallen to such low levels that it is not an issue.

Because if you don't up the limit then WAF is not useable for On-Prem email.

Thanks

Andy

  • There are plans to get this as a CLI switch for the future, the issue is, modsecurity included this fix into the latest version, which XG adapted in the V18 release. Hence this limitation come to play. increasing this limitation for everybody could be a potential issue.
