How to split one port into two ports

Hello,

yes I know the subject makes not much sense Slight smile

But it was the best way to describe the follwing scenario:

I have one LAN port with about 30 clients, most of the IoT Device etc. an about 10 Computer, Mobiles etc.

I have many FW rules for them. Now I want to splitt then onto seperate LAN Ports, so the are well separated from each other.

What would be the best stratgeie to avoid to rewrite rules?

Is it even possible to use the same IP for 2 Port? So I use the first halve IPs (192.168.1.2-128) for Port 1 and the last halve ?

I fear that as soon I split them I get into full chaos.

Thank you.

  • Hi,

you will need to create a second network either on a seperate port or using a smart switch and VLAN the IoT devices.

If you have a spare port, activate it with its own IP address range, seperate from the main port ad then move the device across to it after cloning and updating your firewall rules for the IoT devices. Maybe even rebooting the IoT devices.

  • Thanx that helps. The problem is I cant change the IP from at least 4 devices otherwise it breaks alot. Is it possible to NAT it on the new Port or so?
