DHCP Blocked from USG?

I'm working my way through trying to add an XG in bridge mode between my Unifi USG and the rest of my network. I originally had issues with Ring and Alexa being blocked but upgrading the firmware seems to have fixed this Slight smile

My only real issue now seems to be a blocking of DHCP requests and no visibility of my USG from the Unifi cloud controller.

As with the Alexa and Ring issues, nothing is shown as being blocked, things just don't work.

A suggestion to fix the Alexa was to ssh to the console and do something like this

console > drop-packet-capture 'host x.x.x.x' (x.x.x.x = IP of thing dropped) but when it's DHCP, I don't have a way to narrow this down and I just get an endless stream.

Any hints please? I guess ultimately, I'll drop the USG and do everything on the XG but I wanted to build up to this first and hoped bridge mode would help.

regards

Ted

  • No because I can't see it any longer in the management tool. I may need to remove the XG, disable everything in the USG and then just put the XG in. I note from your sig, you have a V18.0.x - e3-1225v5 6gb ram with 4 ports - 20w, does that mean there is a whole thread somewhere on platforms as I'm testing on an old PC but want to replace with something long term?

  • Hi Ted,

no, there are no threads on hardware other than people asking about certain motherboards.

    Basic hardware

1/. fast quad core cpu, does not need be i5 or greater

2/. avoid intel i219 series nics, not supported.

3/. About 120gb of disk speed not important.

4/. not uefi motherboard, not supported

that is hardware in a summary.
