Since I switched from the sg135 to the xg135, Websites build up very slowly.

As DNS, I use my local DNS-Server.

Here is my firewall-rule LANtoWAN:

  • So, if I set the DNS to 1.1.1.1 then all the websites build up normal.

But I`ve heard that it should be better to set the local dns server?

    So, what is right/better?

  • Hello Frederik,

what is 192.168.80.2? Is this the firewall or another system? If this is not the firewall check/create your firewall rules to allow DNS requests for 192.168.80.2 to the internet. Also check the DNS Forwarder on this system. If 192.168.80.2 is the firewall itself this setup makes no sense.

I usually configure an external DNS-Server as forwarder on the firewall and if needed I create DNS request route for internal domains.

  • Hello Ben,

192.168.80.2 is the ip-adress of my local DNS-server in my domain.

So what will be the right confiurations?

What, if I keep the settings with the dns 1.1.1.1 ?

  • I think the best setup is on firewall a public DNS Forwarder like 1.1.1.1 and a request route for your local.domain to your server 192.168.80.2
