Sophos Central - FQDN host \"{hostname}\" could not be updated |

Hi guys we've been using Sophos Central quite a lot to keep our FQDN and Host objects central between all our different firewalls.

Recently we've been noticing new firewalls that are joining are not successfully syncing objects when placed in their groups.

Error message is pretty vague tbh being given a

"

ID : 3 | Status: FAILED

FQDN host \"{hostname}\" could not be updated |"

I've gone through the log as there are thousands of fqdn's and cidrs that it syncs and for the life of me cannot find the problematic entry. Is there a way to debug it any way to figure out what is causing the sync issue ?

    Hi ,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community!

Have you checked failed firewall transactions?

Go to Task Queue > Failed Transactions and click FAILED > Show More. Are you able to find anything helpful there?

Just for testing, try to remove one firewall from the group, add it back to the group, and then retry a failed object.

    Thanks,

    Hi ,

Would it be possible to try to SKIP or RETRY the Failed Transaction from other browsers such as Edge, Safari, Firefox and update me on how it turns out for you?

  • Hi sorry was away from site so haven't had a change to look at it but tried again today using different browsers.Skip allows it to bypass this and get a green sync but I can see lots of firewall rules that we push don't are not present so it's in a bit of a limbo stage at this present.Luckily the f/w I'm working on isn't prod yet so I've reloaded and retried but keep coming up with the same issue.

Have logged a call in Sophos central console though I'm still waiting for the engineer to come back to me.

    Hi ,

Thank you for the update. If you could, try to push the object to the firewall from Firefox and let me know if you still face the same issue.

However, if you could send me your support case via PM, I would be able to help with the follow-up.

    Thanks,
