Sophos Authentication Agent office file association

Dear team,

We are using android authentication app SophosAuthenticationApp for firewall authentication for android devices. But the problem is whenever we try to open any office file, say .docx or .xlsx file from device, the authentication app is trying to open those files which is not possible to. I have to uninstall the authentication app just to open those office files from the device.

It seems this is the bug in the app.

Kindly help.

  • Hello there,

Thank you for contacting the Sophos Community.

The App by default doesn't have the capabilities to open files, probably during the setup when the certificate got imported it got associated by mistakenly setting it as the Default App to import different files. In your Android device you should have an option to set Default Apps, make sure the Authentication agent isn’t set to default to open files.

    Regards,

  • Additionally to what I mentioned above, you should be able to see the following options when opening a .docx for the first time, probably the very first time the Network Agent was selected and set as Default.

  • 1. While importing the certificate in app, the .scc file directly got imported into app. Android UI hadn't asked me how to open the .scc file.

    2. I understand what you are trying to suggest. But while opening any office file, android UI is not asking which app I should use to open that file (...and I remember, I never selected 'Always' from the pop-up). Android is directly opening the file into Agent app by itself. I tried it by re-installing the Agent app multiple times. Somehow, Android is defining the file type association by itself. There is no any option into app manager to clear the filetype assiciation.

Hope you have understood my concern.

  • Today I again found another file type which is getting open in Agent. It's .xapk file.
