E-Mail Quarantine settings / multiple domains same account

Hello everyone,

at first: We are using FW SFOS 18.0.3 MR-3

I have several questions regarding the quarantine settings. I activate it within "Protect -> Email -> Quarantine settings"
"Send test email" is working

1) Does the user become only a mail when there is a mail in quarantine? Or also when there are "0" new mails

2) We have several domains-alias for the the same mailbox (so ABC.org .. ABC-CO.org). Does this work also if the "firstname.surname" prefix of the mailaddress is still the same (eg: firstname.surname@ABC.org & firstname.surname@ABC.CO.org

3) I read in older topics that the quarantine only works for users created on the XG - our users authenticate via LDAP from Microsoft AD (which is also working fine. but here is the same problem - our internal domain is not the same as our external)

    Thank you for contacting the Sophos Community.

    1. The user will only receive an email when there’s new quarantine, if there’s none the user won’t receive a digest

    2. Quarantine digest will be sent to the first email address

    3. As long as the LDAP users have authenticated to the XG, and you’re able to see their Username and Email address under Authentication Users, the users should receive a Digest. 

    For your Point number 3, you mean for example your internal domain is domain1.com and your external users authenticate using domain2.com however their email address also is user@domain1.com?

    2) what is the first mail address? Do you mean the first one within "Protect -> Email -> Quarantine settings -> Change user's quarantine digest setting" like here ?:

    3) beside our main address janek.haessler@indra-avitech.aero I have also @avitech.aero and same prefix

    So if I get a mail to janek.haessler@indra-avitech.aero it will be declared as quarantine it SHOULD send an email to janek.haessler@indra-avitech.aero . But also for janek.haessler@avitech.aero. I dont want 2 logins for the same account (hope you understand now better)

  • 1) and 2) are clear now but 3) is still open

    I send a testmail (which will be quarantained) to janek.haessler@domain1.aero and one to janek.haessler@domain2.aero (which is only an alias for the same mailbox). When I'm logged in into my Userportal with "janek.haessler" I see only the quarantaine mail from domain1.aero and not for domain2.aero. But the log says it is quarantained. So where is it? How can I say that domain2 is an alias for domain1. I don't think we are the only one with 2 domains.

    Thank you for the follow-up.

    In this case, you should access the User Portal using janek.haessler@domain2.aero, as this would be treated as a different quarantine digest.

    thats not possible because I log in with

    janek.haessler (because thats my Active Directory UserLogonName)

    It doesn't work with janek.haessler@domain1.aero or janek.haessler@domain2.aero. And only for understanding. That would not be a very userfriendly solution. Maybe I have a domain for every major country code like .DE & .CO.UK & .FR I should log in 3 times? My thoughts where maybe it has to do something with CONFIGURE -> AUTHENTICATION -> SERVERS -> and here the "Email address attribute" because currently I set it up with "mail"
