Moving LAN Interface from Port1 (Copper) to Port9 (Fibre) XG310 - is there an easy way?

Hi,

We have 2x XG310s in HA Active/Passive

Our LAN is currently on Port1 (1G Copper) on both devices

I want to configure and move my LAN IP Interface from Port1 to Port9 so I can utilise the SFP port instead.

Is there an easy way to do this?

I can't add the same IP to Port9 as Port1, so I think as soon as I remove the LAN IP from Port1 I will no longer be able to see the UI.

Can this type of action only be done via the Console?

Would it be wise to disable HA before attempting this type of change?

Any help appreciated

Thanks

  • Hi Craig,

I think this would be possible from the console and cli. Or you can enable management on the external interface or a dedicated interface port and connect from there when doing this.

I'd not disable HA but have a known good backup with a known password and the currently installed firmware at hand (you can import the backup only on newer firmwares and I also would not try to do a "forced" migration from 17.5.x to 18.0 MR-4 this way if something goes wrong (even not sure whether you can import backups from 17.5 in 18.0 but AFIK only 18.0 firmwares are currently downloadable ....).

(There are a lot of prerequisites for the HA regarding technical issues and licensing of active-passive firewall and recovery from problems. This should be easier if you are already on 18.0 MR-4. Be sure to read this in case you need to roll back / recover).

    Best regards,
