SOPHOS XG Change IP Address

Hi,

We are going to change the IP address of our XG Firewall WAN interface to another ISP. My concern is our SOPHOS RED 50 devices which we deployed  25 in our branches. What do i need to do? Do  i need to request for new unlocked code because the current IP address they used to connect will be cancelled.I know once we cancelled the current IP address our RED 50 will be disconnected.

Please i need your help on what are the steps i should do to avoid long downtime.

Thanks,

Nidzms

  • RED will always connect to the current IP. If this IP is not reachable it will reconnect to the Provisioning Server and get a new config. If you change the IP on XG for RED, it will get the new config on this process.

Also: Use Sophos DYNDNS (free service) and place a FQDN in this instead of a IP.

  • Hi LuCar Toni,

It means once i change the IP address of the XG firewall automatically RED 50 should try to connect to the new IP address through provisioning server. I tried 1 RED 50 after it gives me message " Got New Config" the device restarted and keeps on connecting to the new IP and at the end just rebooting loop.

I will try the SOPHOS DYNDNS.

    Thanks,
