XG Home physical port interface port assignment/swap

Running XG 18.0.4.

Have an existing appliance with 4 ports.

Want to upgrade to different appliance which has 2 ports. Found out that I can't install my backup configuration with only 2 ports on the new appliance.

Installed a PCIe 2 port card on the new appliance.

What I want to do is move the WAN from port 3 to port 1 and the LAN to port 4 to port 2.

Once I get them switched I will remove the PCIe card and run with 2 ports.

The switch from port 3 to port 1 for the WAN seems simple. The port 4 to port 2 switch does not.

How do I accomplish this? What do I need to do and be aware of?

Hi,

the ports will renumber when you remove the card and not the way you would expect, so be careful.

I removed the PCIe card. Started Sophos and I was not able to log in via the web interface. The SSH shows that the system is in failsafe mode.

Do I assume that going from 4 to 2 ports is not possible?

Hi,

it is possible, but the interfaces will be renumbered and not in a logical order. You wullwill to re-assign them using the console. I do not have the instructions for that.

You cold try powering off the device, actually removing the power cord for a couple of minutes and remove the interface cables.
