Outgoing mails from printer to external domain bounced

We have XG in MTA mode and our email domain is configured as SMTP policy.

Now when our printer scans to email and the email is destined for one of our own employees the mail gets delivered as expected.

However when we scan to email to someone outside our organization, the mails will get bounced

The sender in this example is an internal user (our own email domain), the recipient is someone remote. The same happens with all remote emails.

The internal network is on the host based relay allowed list.

Should I add a smtp policy with something like * as mail domain or is there a better solution to have these mails routed?

  • I have just switched to Legacy mode; there is no internal mail server and I was a bit hesitant to enable SMTP relay for WAN.

Now with Legacy mode everything seems to be fine.
