Anybody use Starlink?

I have several clients on the outer fringes of service starting to get accepted into the Starlink Beta program.  When I tried to run it into the XG Firewall (115) it would not talk to the ISP.  I tried everything I could think of to get it to operate, then I ultimately replaced the XG Firewall with an Untangled firewall and connected with no issue.  I have another client right now with an XG Firewall who just got Starlink and it appears we may have the same issue.  Anybody have any experience to lend me here?

  • I think the modem is built into the dish, so I can't get in between them, again not a lot of details on the product, but it looks like there's just a big-ass power injector on this side. Starlink has their own router, which is totally locked down, or you can bypass it and plug straight in.  Again, I've got it working flawlessly on an untangled firewall device, just Sophos has been my problem.

  • Hi,

the dish requires its own power supply to drive the directional motors/receivers, the modem is a seperate device from what I can see.

What does untangle show as the connection method, I suspect it will be IPv6 which XG cannot handle without an IP4 basic connection.

  • Unless the modem's built in the PoE injector.  That's all there is other than it's own router.  I can pull a public IP if I plug straight into it.
