XG installation failed

I am trying to install XG home edition on a HP Prodesk 600 G2. It has a i5-6500, 8Gb RAM, BIOS set to Legacy only (UEFI disabled), dual, Intel based, PCIe network adapter.

Installation proceeds with creating partitions, installing firmware then prompting to remove the disk and press Y for reboot. After that it does not see the drive- BootDevice not found, error Hard Disk -(3F0).

I tried to install, to no avail, from a USB via Rufus and via Balena Etcher, then right of a CD. I used a SSD then a platter HDD. Windows and pfsense install just fine.

It also works when installing on a older HP Z800 workstation, with dual Zeon processor and dual built-in network adapter.

Anything I may have missed? I have been reading lots of posts on this matter, but nothing worked in my case.

Thank you.

Adrian

  • Hello,

maybe it doesn't like the harddisk controller on that board. I searched the HP datasheet, but I couldn't find an info about the type.
