Sophos XG 310 SSL-VP IP Address

Hello:

We are running a Sophos XG 310.  Remote or traveling users are using the Sophos SSL-VPN client to connect back to our corporate office.  The WAN interface uses a static Public IP address.  We are signing up with another Internet Service Provider that will provide us a new set of public IP address and drop our current Internet provider.  How can we make the Sophos VPN client able to connect to the new address without re-downloading and installing a new Sophos configuration file?

Hope for any insight.

Thank you.

  • Hi Baldwin Quibuye.

Thank you for contacting Sophos Community!

If you have not set the host name for the SSL VPN configuration. We have below choice:

    • Reimport the configuration file Or
    • Ask all user to open the conf file of SSL VPN in there machine and replace the IP with new one!

  • Thank for your quick reply.  Our users are not tech savvy.  Going through a step by step on how to find and edit a config file is an astronomical undertaking for them.  With the current pandemic, we have about 100 remote users at any given time.  We do not want to go through this process again if ever we move to another ISP.  We have not set the hostname for the SSL VPN.  Will this make it a better choice moving forward?

  • Hello Baldwin Quibuyen,

    Thank you for the update!

Setting up the host name will allow client to connect to that specified service provider. If the requirement says that we shall need to connect to any specified ISP in that case setting up the host name will be useful.

However, if we need to connect any of the service provider through the SSL VPN client, keeping it blank will be useful.

Hence, you may choose which is useful in your scenario!
