Sophos XG health and firmware upgrade question

How can i monitor the health of my Sophos XG. My XG rebooted itself and i would like to know the reason for the reboot. Can someone assist on this.

I am running firmware  SFOS 17.5.13 MR-13.

I have a firmware update available on my XG 310 to 18.0.4 . If i upgraded my existing firmware to 18.0.4, do i need to do any configuration changes or will it migrate my existing setting to the latest version. Since most of us are WFH i am trying to minimise downtime to less than 30 mins. Kindly advice.

  • I would first check the file /log/syslog.log for useful information just before the boot. Other diagnostic is only possible when connecting a serial cable to the XG and permanently dump the serial output to file

I can report from our move from 17 to 18 that the upgrade killed the cluster but the config was OK, if you have NAT rules, you would need to review them all if they match to your needs because they are migrated as v18 is acting different for NAT. Our migrated NATS wre OK and needed no work after.
